Beginner to Bareboat
Go from being a beginner to a Bareboat Certified Sailor in one season!
Dream of learning to Sail and Bareboating in the Caribbean or other dream destinations next winter?
Sail Solomons offers what you need to start sailing this season, and be ready to bareboat charter by the fall.
Many schools offer ASA courses, however, without the recommended experience as a skipper in between your courses, new sailors will not build the necessary competence and confidence to skipper a boat on their own. In addition to the highest quality instruction available, Sail Solomons provides you the ability to practice what you learned, on our clean, well maintained boats, with the support of our instructors, in one of the best sailing areas on the east coast, Solomons Maryland. All in one combination courses offered at some locations will give you a certification, but ZERO experience skippering. Few charter bases will allow certified sailors without skippering experience to bareboat charter.
Sail Solomons offers a package solution, our Beginner to Bareboat in a season program. This program offers ASA 101, 103 & 104 certification, PLUS 40-80 hours experience skippering a boat. Sailors completing our program will receive their certification and experience, but more importantly, they will be confident and competent to enjoy bareboating.
The Program:
Our Beginner to Bareboat program combines our established courses, with our very popular sailing club. In summary, a new sailor commits to completing the first level of certification, ASA 101 (Basic Keelboat Sailing), and joins our Sailng club at the Osprey 5 level, which provides 5 days of practice sailing. Next, sailors take ASA 103 (Basic Coastal Cruising) a 3 day course where they can sleep aboard, and increase their Osprey club membership, giving them 2-3 days practice sailing on our intermediate boats. With 5-8 days skippering, a sailor is ready for ASA 104, Bareboat Cruising Certification. At the completion of this certification, they are ready to Bareboat Charter, and have the certifications, practice, and confidence to start skippering a cruising boat. A discount is applied at each success step, giving a discount overall. Partners taking courses together are able to share their Sailing club practice sails, resulting in a even larger discount.
