Winter at the Marina

So what does a sailing school do during winter?   Get ready for summer of course!  How?

In February, we have our Coastal Navigation Course, ASA 105, but we are also very busy getting the fleet and our programs ready for the summer months.    New sails are being made for MISTRAL, a new dodger is being made for ALLORA, plus an anchor windlass will be installed before she goes back in the water.   SHAMAL is being updated with a roller fuller, new jib, and interior upgrades.  We expect to have SHAMAL’s decks painted by opening weekend, and she will be available for day-sailing rentals and Sailing Club use.   Our charter fleet receives deep cleaning, and as soon as it warms up, teak will be stripped and re-finished.  Yes, we even wash the engines.  All sails and canvas are removed, inspected and repaired as necessary.  Frayed lines, loose and missing screws are all replaced.

Our boats have a busy season ahead, and we are working the schedule details for our classes, opening weekend, spring boat show, Sailstice, screw pile regatta and more.

The boats don’t move much at this time of year, but we are already very busy getting ready to get YOU out on the water.

Fair Winds!  Jeff
