The Sail Solomons BVI Flotilla 2012 was a roaring success! Our club members and new flotilla-mates had a fantastic time in the BVI last month. Two weeks of glorious trade winds, warm sunny skies and crystal clear waters! And just a few squalls to keep things lively.  See the fun for yourself in the photo slideshow.

Monohull week kicked off Jan 13th at the Tortola BVI Sunsail base. 22 sailors boarded a matched fleet of 4 beautiful Sunsail 440 yachts. Visits to Peter Island, Gorda Sound, Foxy’s and the Indians were among the favorites; the North Swell whipped up the Bubbly Pool to foamy new heights. Congratulations to Charlie and Ron, our two newest certified bareboat charter skippers!

On Jan 23, crews boarded the Voyage 440 and Lagoon 420 cats and met up at Peter Island’s White Bay to kick off catamaran week. How we loved the spacious accommodations and sleigh ride from Anegada! Visits to favorite ports featured dancing with the Jumbies and fantastic snorkeling at Anegada’s famed Loblolly Beach. Congratulations to Roger and John who completed the Cruising Catamaran course. What’s next on their sailing agenda?

Unwilling to return to the snowy north, many sailors opted to spend a few extra days relaxing shoreside after the flotilla. Maybe next year we’ll spend the whole season!
